Advice & Coaching

Dogs can end up in rescue centres for many different reasons, and this is why rescue dogs can vary greatly. What they will all need is time to get used to their new home and family, and consistent guidance to get them settled in.

Regardless of your rescue dog’s history, I can help to make the transition as smooth as possible and aid you in your rescue journey.

Using positive reinforcement techniques I can show you how to teach the basic manners and build confidence and trust between you and your dog. These techniques work particularly well with rescue dogs where there might be an abusive history leading to anxiety and fear issues. Old fashioned aversive training techniques will just add to the stress and potentially make matters worse.

This video shows the progress of my own rescue dog through utilising positive reinforcement training techniques.

“Tom worked with Wilma when we first got her. She was seven months old and hadn’t been socialised or walked on a lead.

Tom helped me build a confident relationship with her. She was very nervous about everything.
Tom came out on walks with Wilma showing me how to bring her attention into me.

She is now a more confident dog and mixes well with other dogs.”
